BURNABY, BC — Magna is thrilled to acknowledge Gary Shaw on his appointment as the Senior Software Engineer for SkyBox Labs, recognized as one of the fastest growing gaming studios in Canada and one of Microsoft’s closest game development partners. Over the years, SkyBox has built an impressive portfolio of releases which includes acclaimed titles such as Minecraft, Halo Infinite, and Age of Empires II: HD Edition.
Gary Shaw graduated from Simon Fraser University in 1996 with a BS in Computer Science, and is now a video game industry veteran. He has spent over 20 years working on AAA console titles, most notably specialized towards graphics and online programming in recent years. Today, Gary is now known among his peers as a masterful programmer in complex C++ oriented game engines, and is considered a subject matter expert in the latest DirectX and OpenGL rendering APIs, having implemented numerous experimental graphics features such as lens flares, atmospherics, edge highlighting, cartoon shading, and sparkling water in numerous games.
Gary has a penchant for keeping his knowledge sharp and engages in continuous education on a regular basis. We are pleased to congratulate him on this new endeavor, and look forward to seeing all the exciting differences he will make at SkyBox Labs!
